Dress for life
My love for dresses is real.
There’s magic in a dress.
One continual piece of fabric, a nip here, a frill, a strap, a tuck, a swish.
There’s an ease to a dress, that you just don’t get with tops and bottoms. There’s so much to get right with those two; obviously the top and the bottom, belts, then the fit, then do they go with each other, then you might have to think about tucking the shirt in… and it goes on.
And lets face it, there are delicious dinners to be had where ones tum might need a little extra room to relax, do you follow me?
I was a jeans, pants and trousers gal until I saw a photo of me in India (haha no I will not show you, its in the archives!) and I thought to myself, my god Sara! I was in the most beautiful city, I felt great, but my clothes didn’t reflect how I felt and how I wanted to feel.
No alignment.
And so began the love affair with dresses. Some I got right and then there were some hilarious epic fails. But dresses became a new part of my wardrobe and eventually I understood what suited me.
So I dress for life, mostly in dresses and that feels right.
How do you dress for your life?
Are you dressing as you always did, do you need a wardrobe shake up?
Are you dressing for your future self?
Interesting things to consider, how we sit and fit in our clothes definitely relates to choices we make in life. You know how you feel when you wear that scratchy wool jumper, the pants where the bum has fallen out, the outfit that used to bring you joy but lately it feels meh.
I believe that when we feel good, we make better choices, we stand a little bit taller, we relax a bit more, we laugh easier.
A dare: go into a store and try on some dresses! Its a small dare but might just change your life and lift your heart.
Note: spray on your favourite perfume before you go try on dresses, really our mothers and grandmothers were right.
Dress for the part you want.
