Feeling agile & sprightly
My late late 40’s and early 50’s were plagued by aches and pains, too many extra kilos and too many complaints for me to be happy with.
And so things changed when I changed. The catalyst for change came in the form of a friend. I changed when I bumped into a friend I’ll call S. I had finished at the gym (yes that was a good habit, but the wine & chocolate not so much!) & SHE GLOWED!! I’m telling you, she was radiant!! Skin all shiny and healthy, brightness on the in and outside.
This particular moment in her life, aligned with the right moment for my life. I was like, phhhlease tell ALL. And after a few hugs & laughs, S told me she had found a great practitioner whose both a Naturopath & a Nutritionist, and proceeded to tell all. And as they do, way leads to way, things lead to other things and you might call that synchronicity, or a coincidence, or a message that came just at the right time. I believe in all of that and divine timing. And once divine timing hits you, you must run with it. You want to get on that particular feeling of momentum and let-it-take-you.
And I did. I made the appointment, I took the homeopathic medicine, I slowly changed my diet, I did the work. I’m a good student when I’m excited for a particular outcome. And fast forward to mid/late 50’s, I’ve never felt better, I do feel agile and spritely (most of the time!).
I know in my bones, that my friends recommendation came at the best time as I needed to do something. Remember that saying: don’t just sit there, do something. Well, that’s all fine and good, but we need to do THE RIGHT thing don’t we. Because any action taken for the sake of action is a waste. We want to be intentional and purposeful.
The way I see it, unfortunately most books on aging are written by men and are such dry reads that I could just use them for as a night time remedy for a good nights sleep. Its the women I want to hear from, its the women I want advice from and its women who buoy each other up and encourage each other forwards.
So feeling agile and sprightly, it is within reach. It is achievable. In the sunset years of my 50’s I feel we need to scope out the people, places, tonics, remedies, that feel daringly optimistic and give us enthusiasm for the years ahead.
How do you feel? How do you want to feel? Write it all down, the aches the pains (people or muscles!) and get a picture of how things are right now and next to it, write a dream, vision of how you’d like things to be? Name one small action, one tiny thing you could do to move towards that inner vision you have for your life rn.
Dare to be optimistic about your future. You are counting you.
